In this year’s UNDP committee, delegates were supposed to come prepared to debate two topics- economic development in landlocked countries and disaster risk reduction. However, the committee was so effective in addressing these two topics- passing multiple lengthy resolutions on each- that they were able to select their own topic to debate for the final session. They set their sights high, setting the topic to improving the status of women. After only one night to research, every delegate came with a variety of creative ways to address this complex issue, and they managed to pass several resolutions. All in all, OSUMUN 2019’s UNDP committee was more efficient and creative than any I can remember being a part of in the past.
