CCWA Takes on New York
CCWA’s Model UN Team made its 2019-2020 season debut at the CMUNNY Conference in New York City. Delegates debated a wide variety of issues from the future of international space exploration to the assassination of President John Kennedy, as well as the fallout of a Turkish/Erdogan succession crisis.
As the first conference of the season, our primary goal for CMUNNY is for our delegates to obtain valuable conference experience, and our expectations were exceeded in that regard. OSU delegates competed with their counterparts from universities across the world, and performed strongly. This conference was a tribute to the rigorous training and research program newly implemented this year, and it allowed our delegates to perform to the best of their ability. Ian Shotts won Best Delegate in a committee on the future of Turkey post-Erdogan, and Yazan Anani took home a verbal commendation from the Interplanetary Council of Affairs. Yajat Dhawan was awarded a verbal commendation, as well. We hope that CMUNNY will be the first in a series of even more successful conferences, in which our delegates are able to showcase their invaluable knowledge on world affairs.
Members of the OSU Model UN Team also visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Times Square, having time to take in the city and some of what it has to offer. Our delegates had a positive experience, with Maddie Sisk and Yajat Dhawan attending their first ever collegiate conference. As always, we look forward to taking our delegates to future conferences where we get into the full swing of the MUN season and expand our horizons with regards to global affairs.
